Show STRIKE MAY BE GENERAL Federation of Labor to Take Up Grievances of Carpenters. . GARDNER, Mass., Jan. 17. The question ques-tion of a general strike of all union men In Gardner in sympathy with the union carpenters who were locked out by the contractors January 1st, is in the hands of the national leaders of the American Federation of Labor. The contractors have refused to arbitrate, and their spokesman has told the union committee commit-tee that the contractors did not want to have . anything more to do with the union. All the union men affiliated, with the Central Labor union have voted to stand by the union carpenters in whatever way they are asked to help. Representatives from federation headquarters head-quarters in Washington are expected in Gardner next week to see what steps should be taken to end the trouble. |
