Show CO AL FAMINE IN OGDEN -BUT DEALERS SAY SALT LAKE WILL NOT SUFFER The fact that the crippled condition of the Union Pacific Railroad company has made It Impossible to secure coal from its Rock Springs mines has caused some feeling of uneasiness that a coal famine might follow in Salt Lake and other sections of the State, i A dispatch from Ogden this morning announced that the supply of coal was running very low there as the movement of Rock Springs coal had almost ceased and the Rio Grande output was largely handled under contract. The railroad company has been compelled to employ detectives in Its Ogden yards as a protection pro-tection against coal thieves. . . Questioned as to the situation In Salt Lake, Manager Crltchlow of the Bamberger Bam-berger Coal company said: "Rock Springs coal is now virtually out of the market and has been so for , ten days. But there is no danger of a coal famine in the city. ' The deaders will certainly be able to supply the people with plenty of coal of some kind. No increase in-crease In the current prices Is contemplated. I have not even heard the subject mentioned."-. . - |
