Show &0SEBEBY CRITICISES ENGLISH GOVERNMENT. Liberal Leader Slakes an Issue on the ' German Alliance.' LONDON, Jan. 17. In the course of a spirited attack on the Government's general policy Lord Rosebery, speaking at Plymouth, referred to Vene-. suela. He reminded his audience that when the Liberal government had the same kind of debt collecting to do in Nicaragua, it first consulted Washington Washing-ton and then settled the business in a couple of days. He said he did not know the facts of the Venezuelan affair, af-fair, but that be felt convinced the Government had consulted the United .States before taking any action In this matter., and that it must have had imperious motives in entering into the alliance with Germany, as otherwise other-wise it would not have, adopted such an unwise policy. Lord Rosebery said be desired, however, to hear the Gov-ernment's Gov-ernment's motives before criticising it. |
