Show YALL STREET IS NERVOUS BSSaBBBaSSBBBlBSSMSBB NEW . YORK, March 28.-The market displayed a good dal of nervousness In the early dealings, owing to the wide and contrary course of some of the recently conspicuous stocks. St. Paul and Manhattan Man-hattan after a steady opening declined a point below yesterday's cloee on their next transactions. Meanwhile Pennsylvania Pennsyl-vania was lifted a point above its first price and New York Central after declining declin-ing slightly rallied a point also. Traders became confused in trying to determine the ultimate course of the market and bid up some stocks while unloading others. Southern Pacific and United States Steel preferred were down a sharp fraction. Amalgamated Copper recovered sharply 1. Later St. Paul, Northwestern and Manhattan Man-hattan wiped out their losses the market grew steadier for a time, but the unloading unload-ing of high-priced stocks was resumed again shortly before 11 o'clock. 8t. Paul dropped to 161. Southern Pacific touched 584. Union Pacific 884 and the whole market mar-ket broke badly. There was a continuance continu-ance of urgent liquidation into the second hour, which carried many prominent stocks a point or more under last night. United States Steel preferred broke l A rise in Manhattan to a point over last night and fractional gains were established estab-lished in other prominent stocks. With the demand of the shorts satisfied the market became quiet and prices slipped back again. The close was dull and steady. LOCAL QUOTATIONS. New York stock quotations furnished by A. A.
