Show MISS CLARA BARTON WILL NOT RESIGN Committee of Three Has Been Ap- pointd to Consult With Her on . Reorganization of Red Cross. WASHINGTON, March 28. The Red Cross society Is now declared to be in- ' oneratlve bv those who are seeking to ' eliminate Miss Clara Barton and ror-ganize ror-ganize It." A special act of Congress in 1900 approved the present organisation of the Red Cross society. This act Is construed to make It mandatory that the President and Cabinet serve on the board of consultation. The refusal of these officials to act further on the board Is said to have left the society, without an organization, suh as was contemplated by law. It Is contended - that Congress cannot avoid conducting an Investigation of the society's affairs, and it Is believed the result will be a new charter and a new set of officers. . Advices have been received here from Miss Barton that she will not voluntarily voluntar-ily retire from the presidency of the Red Cross. A committee of three has been designated to consult with her and ' take steps for the reorganization of the Red Cross. ' |
