Two hundred Irishmen, whose feelings had been- outraged out-raged by the performance of '"McFadden's Row of Flats," at the New Star'theater, rose ih their seats at a signal last right and pelted the performers with rotten eggs, rotten vegetables and frultl The audience au-dience of over 2000 people was thrown into an uproar and the actors were driven from the stage. The affair was the culmination of a series se-ries of attempts to bring the performance of this play to an end and to stop forever for-ever the production of such plays. The disturbing element was scattered through the orchestra, balcony and galleries of the theater. Some took the part of the players by howling their disdain at the original disturbers. In the uproar a policeman po-liceman who was trying to preserve order or-der discovered and stamped a burning rag in one of the aisles. , |
