Show EXPLOSION OF A , DENVER PRODIGY Another Denver prodigy has blown up. Rube Smith, the Denver lightweight, light-weight, who has been touted as a coming com-ing champion by Johnny Corbett and Otto Floto, was given, his beatings in grand 'style by Jimmy Gardner, the second-rater, on Friday night. Gardner put Smith out for the count in the fifth round, and Kube was never a contender after' the second round, when he dropped Gardner with a right swing to the body. Denver has probably turned out more false, alarms in the prize fighting line than any town- in the country. Young Corbett being the only real one in the Colorado bunch. Kid Parker, who was touted as the coming champ at one time, never caused any excitement in the pugilistic world except by announcing announc-ing that he would train on vegetables alone. Matty Mathews of New York was paid to lie down to Parker In order to keep the Parker boom going, but Parker finally found his level, which 1b Just about low-water mark.
