There 4 never has been- an article of football played in this State which will class with he brand on exhibition at Cum-mlngs Cum-mlngs field at 2 o'clock, when the U. ofU. and the Aggie of Logan meet. The TJ. of U. team has never had any coaching to amount to anything until this year, when Maddock took hold of it. and assisted by Callahan, Channlng and Plummer, he has turned out a team which can really play some football. Coach Campbell has had a number of his players In hand for three years, and not only has he taught them a lot of football, but he has Installed college spirit into the students at the A. C. The game this afternoon Is bound to be hard fought and vicious. According to the past performance sheet, the 'Varsity 'Var-sity ought to win, but it is a cinch that the Aggies will fight down to the last ditch. The A. C. team arrived Jn the city on Friday and spent the day in res, not . doing any work at all. The 'Varsity had a light signal practice, but did no heavy work. The Aggies ffre a big, husky bunch, and look as though they outweigh their , opponents to quite an extent. It is likely like-ly that the Aggies will confine themselves them-selves to mass attacks on the 'Varsity line. It would eeem as If the 'Varsity would confine their attack to the ends of the Aggie line and work trick plays and delayed passes, etc., but Coach . Maddock refuses to commit himself as to his plan of campaign. It is. figured that the "Varsity will find it a very different proposition to pound up the Aggie line than it was to make holes in the lines of the teams played this season. sea-son. No one knows how the 'Varsity " will play a losing game, and they may have to do that same thing this afternoon. after-noon. They have never been anywhere " near evenly matched this season, and the contest with Colorado was so early n the season as to be no criterion. |
