Show CARTER'S FAMILY HAS BEEN ASSISTED The statement of John Carter, the colored cook whose white wife is reported re-ported dying of paralysis, that he has applied to the county authorities for assistance and that it has been refused I him, does not appear to be borne out by facts. The books of the pauper clerk how that Carter has received more or r,s assistance from the county since -99.' During the month of October of this year the books show that he received ' J10.90 in groceries. For the first half of November he has received 6 for groceries, gro-ceries, J5 for rent and $5 for clothing. Mrs. Carter Is expected to go to the home of her sister Tuesday, and the child will be sent to the orphan's home J in a few days. 1 |
