Show BRILLIANT CEREMONY HELD BY THE POPE ROME, Nov. 15. The festlvltes in honor of the jubilee of the Immaculate conception concep-tion may be said to have begun Monday with the holding of a brilliant consistory, con-sistory, which was especially interesting, as the Pope lately had been indisposed and many "persona wished to be assured of his recovery. All the cardinals living in Rome, numbering about twenty-five, gathered In the hall of the consistory at the Vatican, half an hour before the ceremony, cere-mony, taking their places In three groups, cardinals, bishops, cardinal-priests and cardinal-deacons, making' one of the Imposing Im-posing pictures to be seen only at the apostolic palace The I'nited States was represented at the consistory by Monslgnore Kennedy, rector of the American college here, and Monslgnore Seton, titular archbishop of HelioixMu. of Jersey City, N. J. Mon-signore Mon-signore Kennedy at the private consistory consist-ory received the pallium for Archbishop Glennon of St Iouls. Immediately after the secret consistory the Pops held a seml-publlc consistory, preliminary to the ceremony of the canonization canon-ization of blessed Alejandro Saull, the Barnablte, and blessed Gerardo Mcfila.-the Mcfila.-the rederoptorist, which takes place next month. All agree that, outside of the fact that he has a somewhat careworn expression, the Pope, notwithstanding his recent at- I tack of gout, seems to be in good health. I |
