Show TWO MORE ROBBERIES Stores in Business Dis-4 Dis-4 trict Arc Held Up bj Unmasked flen. Two daring robberies, were committed in the city early Saturday night. The first place visited was Kirk's grocery gro-cery store, 303 South Fourth West street. As J. F. Kirk, the owner of ths store, was closing the place for the night two men entered the store and commanded him to throw up his hands. Kirk did not obey immediately and one of the men fired at him with a revolver. The ball whistled dangerously close to Kirk's head, and he then did as he was told, and opened the cash drawer for the men, one of whom scooped thel money out of the till and put it in his pocket. They disappeared, leaving Kirk standing with his face toward a wall. They secured 145. The other robbery was that of the Sherwood pharmacy, State and Fifth South streets, which was visited at 10 o'clock by a well-dressed young man, who leveled a revolver at the head of Robert Birkln, the night clerk, who was alone in the store. Birkln was forced to turn his back on the robber, who then opened the cash drawer and secured $20. Birkin tried to turn his head to get a look at the robber, but the latter saw this and threatened to shoot if the attempt was repeated. The Sherwood pharmacy was robbed in a manner almost Identical Iden-tical less than a month ago. The proprietor pro-prietor was the victim of the first robbery. rob-bery. The men were not masked. |
