Show FIRED AT JJMITED SALIDA, Colo., Nov. 28. It has developed de-veloped that attempts were made to hoi up two westbound Denver & Rio Grande passenger trains instead of one at Gour-don Gour-don siding Saturday night. Only the attempt at-tempt on No. 1, known as the Denver & Ogden express, was reported to Superin. tendent Lakes at Salida. This was thf ptlncipal assault by the train robbers. The first attempt was made on- second section of No. 6, known as the California Califor-nia limited. This was not reported to headquarters Saturday night as the train crew thought the shots fired intc the cab came from guns in the hands ot persons who wished to be revenged on the railroad for either a fancied or real cause. Some of the trainmen still cling to the revenge theory, but others hold that a gang of train robbers is operating in Chaffee county. Of the two shots fired at No. S, one ploughed its way through the cap of Fireman Arthur and tore a tuft of hair away. |
