Show HUGHES MAY BE CHARGED Cotmtj Attorney Has Not Decided That Negro Is Innocent. County Attorney George Westervelt has not yet determined whether he will file . a complaint against Ike Hughes, charging him with the killing of C, R. West, who fell or was thrown from, the third floor of the American house last Monday night, : The County Attorney will be Influenced Influ-enced In his action in the case by the report of Dr. Benedict, who performed an autopsy on West's remains this morning. This autopsy showed that West's skull had been fearfully crushed, and that portions of the skull were forced several Inches into the brain. Such an injury could have scarcely been caused by even a powerful man. . The report of the physician performing perform-ing the autopsy will be presented to the Coroner's Jury, which will resume the Inquest at 3 o'clock this afternoon. The police are now of the opinion that West fell from the window while in a drunken stupor. County Attorney Westervelt, however. how-ever. Is leaving no stone unturned to ferret out, if possible, other witnesses who may know some feature of the case that has not yet been brought to light, |
