BIG STRIKE MADE IK UTAH MINE News of one of the most important strikes ever made in the Utah mine of Fish Springs reached the city today. The information came in Superintendent Superintend-ent Crismon's regular tri-weekly letter, an assay sheet accompanying it. show- lng that the ore body recently disclosed carries 63 per cent lead and 2S9 ounces in silver. The strike was made on the third level, where the ore chute had pinched down to eighteen Inches. A shot broke through the side wall of the tunnel and revealed a cave extending in twenty feet. A loose limestone formation for-mation was cleaned out of the cave and the entire bottom seemed to be a solid body of ore, showing the values mentioned men-tioned above. INDICATIONS OF ORE IN THE NEW YORK MINE. President Wilson of the New Yorlj mine received word this morning that a small stringer of ore had been disclosed at a depth of 275 feet in the shaft, and that the indications were very favorable favora-ble for a strike. This news is what sent the stock skyward on the morning: call. The management of the New York figured that the shaft would encounter the Naildriver vein at a depth of about 300 feet, and for this reason Indications of ore at the present time are considered consid-ered most important. However, Mr. Wilson says the vein has . not been reached yet. STRIKE IN CHECKMATE. 0 A report from Boise says an important import-ant strike has been made in the Checkmate Check-mate mine at Pearl. Hodson, manager of the Lincoln Lin-coln company's gold property at Pearl Ida., arrived yesterday. The Taylor-Brunton sampler received re-ceived eighteen cars of ore today, eight from Stockton, four from Tlntlc, three from Bingham and three from Nevada-Manager Nevada-Manager Johnson of the Newhouse mines left for the Bingham property this morning-. President Lewis and Secretary Hen-shaw Hen-shaw arrived from the Majestic this morning-. The Eastern contingent of shareholders will remain at the mine another day or more.
