WASHINGTON, April 30-The geological survey in a preliminary statement Issued today estimated the total production of lead In the United States In 1903 at 268,000 short tons, against 27Q.70U tons la 19QL The lead contents of ores smelted by the works In the various states follow: Colorado, M,S2 short tons; Idaho. 84,742; 'Utah. 53.314; Montana. 4,438; New Mexico,' 741; Nevada, 2t; Arizona. 890; California. 17J; Washington state, H."i7; Oregon.
