Show WALL STREET DOWNWARD Lower Tendency Despite Fararablc Statement of the Basts. NE WYORK. April 25. Prloes of the standard railroad stocks took a downward course at the opening. Losses were restricted re-stricted to small fractions, however. The strength of the Mexican railroad stocks and the smelting stocks was due to the continued rise in silver. A number of specialties spe-cialties also showed small gains. The wavering tendency of the market was decided in favor of lower prices by the liquidation in Metropolitan Street Railway. That stock declined 3 points to 129. Chicago Union Traction preferred dropped 10 points. The good bank statement state-ment rallied the market, but decided pressure pres-sure to realize met the advance and carried car-ried prices back to the lowest. Declines of a point or more from last night's level were made by th prominent Pacittcs. grangers, Southweaterns, trunk lines and some minor stocks. The closing was active and weak. St. Louis Woof..
