Show SUTTON IS ACQUITTED ON CHARGE OF ASSAULT; ACTED IN SELF-DEFENSE William Sutton, who was charged with an assault with intent to kill George Hancock, was discharged by Judge Diehl this morning. In rendering his decision, Judge Diehl said that some mystery seemed to surround sur-round the events that preceded the alleged assault, the cause of the controversy between Sutton and Hancock not having been brought out in the examination. He added that it was evident that the plaintiff did not tell the truth on the stand concernins certain of the witnesses, and that it was also evident that Sutton, the defendant, was in great odily fear, and was acting In self-defense. Sutton was accordingly discharged. Sutton was defended by Fred C. Loofbourow, former Assistant County Attorney. |
