Show ALL FASTING RECORDS BROKEN BY VAN METER Arthur Van Meter, who for forty days has been living on. water alone, has cured himself of an attack of dropsy I that was pronounced incurable, and has commenced to again take nourishment. During the long .fast, which is be- lieved to have broken all records, Mr. Van Meter decreased in weight from 250 pounds to 127 pounds. He appears to be in good health, however, and his physician declares that all traces of disease dis-ease have disappeared from his body. Although the treatment would appear ap-pear to one who had never tried it to be rather heroic, Mr. Van Meter declares he suffered no Inconvenience after the first three days, and could have fasted ten days longer had it been necessary. He commenced taking nourishment yesterday with a small quantity of malted milk. He did not relish, this, however, sb changed to fresh buttermilk. butter-milk. Today he will take a little chicken chick-en broth and will gradually increase the amount of nourishment from day to day. |
