June it Seveni teen Cistercian monks who were forced to leave the monastery at Font Gopv pault, near Tours, through the operas tlon of the anti-congregation laws of France, have arrived in Louisville. They were brought here by the Right Rev. Father Edmond O. Obrecht, abbot of the Trappiet monastery of Gethse-mane. Gethse-mane. Nelson County, Ky. . For the time being the monks will make their home at Gethaemane, where they will later be joined by twenty-three others from Font Gombault, led by their abbot. ab-bot. An effort will be made to establish a Cistercian monastery in Kentucky. Father Obrecht stated today that about 200 monks had signified their intention of coming to Kentucky during the present year. |
