Three of them walked up to the bar and called for beer and the fourth man walked to the rear and locked the back door. When the beer was set out one of the men pulled a gun on Rooney and ordered him to give up his keys. At the same time the others covered the crowd and ordered them to throw up their hands. William Rooney, a boHermaker, who did not comply with the order quick enough to suit the robbers was shot and slightly injured. s The robbers being unable to find a key to fit the safe, pried it open with a chisel.
