Show READY TO OPEN LAGOON Many Improvements Have Been Made at the Prct-, ty Resort. The management of the Lagoon ;is very busy these days getting that popular popu-lar little resort Into shape for the summer sum-mer season. Many improvements are being made preparatory to the rush that is expected ex-pected after the opening on May 30th. The buildings are all being repainted and generally repaired.- The trackbed of the miniature railway has been very greatly Improved by the laying of new steel and the putting in of new ties. The cars and engines have all been overhauled ov-erhauled and the merry-go-round has been moved to another part of the grounds. It will now be near the boat-house boat-house ticket-office, where tickets will be sold for the boats, the circling horses and the miniature trains. The one ticket-office will answer for them alL Manager John S. Critchlow says that the whole place will be greatly smartened smart-ened up In an artistic way. The trade has become greater every year since the resort was first opened six years ago, and Mr. Critchlow expeets an exceptionally excep-tionally heavy season, notwithstanding the advance that has been made In the price. Round trip tickets for adults have been raised to M cents, and the price for children under 12 years of age is 25 rents. . The Lagoon will open with a grand road race on Decoration day and the bookings are already fair for this early In the fcason. Aside 'from being a delightful place for an afternoon's visit. Lagoon has many attractions, among which, aside from those before mentioned, are the fishing, the bowling and the dancing. It is an ideal place for the merriment of the children and the older ones may find festivity there also. A band furnishes fur-nishes music for those who. may desire to trip on the light fantastic toe; there Is a restaurant where the appetite may be slaked when you are hungry, and a soda fountain and bar where the burning burn-ing thirst may be solaced- when one Is dry. J. B. Bean, traffic manager, says there will be many excursions to the resort this summer, and that everything looking toward the pleasure of the excursionists ex-cursionists and others will be done to please them and make them comfortable. |
