Show OPERA BY DEAF MUTES Musical Composition Is Rendered in the -Sign Language. I CHICAGO. May II. "The May Queen." an operetta in two sets, was given at the Y. M. C. A. auditorium last night by a cast of whom none could hear or utter a word of the music or dlalogrue. The cast was made up of a score of the pupils of a school for deaf mutes, and the operetta was a part of a programme of chorusei, recitations and callmhenk: exercises. The songs and dialogue incident to the games were rendered in the sign language. lan-guage. The sentiments were made intelligible intel-ligible to the audience by Miss Josephine Tobolska and Miss Minnie Byrne, who interpreted in-terpreted and vocalised the words and tongs of the performers. |
