Show SHORTAGE OF COPPEE. "As the year draws nearer its close it becomes more and more apparent that the increase in copper production for the year 1906 will f&H far short of early1 expectations," is the announcement announce-ment of George L. Walker, the expert who writes weekly analvses of the red metal situation for the Boston Commercial. Commer-cial. He also says that there is no sign of a decrease in the consumption, and continues: "Lake Superior district dis-trict will probably send less copper ' to market this year than it did last, and the increase in the Butte district will not exceed 3 to 5 per cent "There will be a slight increase from Utah and California, and the Bisbee and Globe districts in Arizona will show quite notable increases. Taken altogether it is probable that the increase in-crease in the world's production will not exceed 5 per cent. "In view of the fact that the consumption con-sumption demand has increased at least 20 per cent this year, it is not difficult to understand and appreciate the sen- J national conditions ruling in this metal market." |
