Show YOU ARE TOO FAT BECAUSE YOU ARE SICK Why do some -people who eat heartily and take things easy escape obesity, while others become uncommonly fat on hard work and a snare dietf This phenomenon is a constant source of wonder and speculation by ordinary witnesses of it. Science, however, has recently answered the question in a way that will be Tather disconcerting to unduly fat persons when they hear of it. If you are abnormally fat you are ill that is. the scientific answer. Worse vet, vour illness is due to your being poisoned! "Toxic obesity," it is called by a writer in the Paris scientific journal jour-nal called Cosmas. According to this authority those numerous nu-merous fat persons wher are troubled especially with shortness of breath are poisoned by products of the body which in normal persons are eliminated before thev do harm. The result is that the organism is rendered incapable of consuming superfluous su-perfluous fat, which accordingly accumulate accu-mulate to an abnormal extent. It has been demonstrated that the normal elimination of these poisons can be brought about by a proper regimen regi-men of diet and hygienic measures, but not always with the effect of reducing the fat already accumulated. In other words, you can be cured of the poisonous poison-ous cause of your obesity, but are likely like-ly to retain the extra fat it gave von. Not only do poisons exist in the bodies bod-ies of the abnormally, but microbes with which those poisons are associated. associ-ated. Certain forms of' tuberculosis are found to accompany obesitv. Paul Carnot succeeded in producing the same condition in animals by inoculating them with toxins taken from the body of an obese person. |
