Show ABLE COUNTY ATTORNEY NEEDED. The importance of the County Attorney's office in Salt Lake county at this time cannot be overestimated. overesti-mated. The selection of a man to fill this office at next Tuesday's election should be carefully considered consid-ered by every citizen, to the end that a County Attorney At-torney may be chosen who will carry out the duties of the office without fear, favor or reward. Of the candidates for County Attorney, leaving out of the consideration any thought of politics or local conditions, there can be no question that the one best fitted by attainments, legal experience and a record for courage cf his convictions is A. J. "Weber. "We-ber. The nomination of the American party for County Coun-ty Attorney came to Judge Weber without solicitation solicita-tion on his part and by unanimous vote, of the convention. con-vention. Since that time, also without solicitation on his part, he has received the indorsement of various vari-ous labor bodies throughout the county, purely on his record of fairness, uprightness and fearlessness. Should he be elected next Tuesday, and there is little doubt that he and other nominees of the American party will be ejected, he will go into the office clean-handed and unpledged to anything but a fearless enforcement of the law. The County Attorney is not merely a prosecuting prosecut-ing officer, but is the civil adviser and monitor of the county administration. His duties require him to watch the expenditures of the county funds and to see that illegal appropriations are not made. With Judge Weber in the office, it is safe to say there will be a careful scrutiny of the fiscal affairs of the county, and illegal appropriations and "graft" will be a thing of thy past. It behooves the sober-minded people of Salt Lake county to see that A. J. Weber is elected, to the end that an able, fearless and honest administration of the County Attorney's office may be had. |
