Show DAD COLLISION ON RIO GRANDE Engineer's Leg Is BroKen in ' .Jumping When Trains Come Together;- Both Engines Are WrecKed. A the result of a head-on collision on the Bio Grande road' between local No. 31 and extra freight No. 1137 at Thistle Junction shortly before noon ' yesterday, Thomas I. Lamplaugh. engineer, en-gineer, who lives at 811 West Third South street, in this city, is suffering from a broken leg. No. 31 was on the way to Salt Lake while the freight was going east at the time of the accident. It is claimed that the crew of No. 31 misunderstood their orders. The two trains were going at a moderate rate of speed at the time of the accident. The engineer of No. 31 jumped and suffered a broken leg. His fireman, as v-ell as the engineer on the freight train, escaped es-caped without injurv. Both engines . tvre badly demolished and three yrVLght cars wrecked. Traffic was de-5rea de-5rea for nearly twelve hours. |
