Show SEES STEAMER ON FIRE AND ABANDONED QTJEEXSTOWX, Nov. 1. The British Brit-ish steamer Vedamore from Baltimore, October 20 for Liverpool, passed Kin-salehead Kin-salehead this morning and signaled that she saw the British steamer Nemea abandoned and on fire in latitude 51 north, longitude 15 west. The crew of the Nemea, with the exception, of two men, who were lost, were taken on boadd the Vedamore. The British steamer Sylvsnia from Boston, October 24 for Liverpool, has reported subsequently seeing the Nemea on fire in about the same position, or about 200 miles off the Irish coast. The Nemea left St. John, N. B., Oc? tober 18, for Manchester. She was commanded by Capt. Shaw, was of 2259 tons net, was built at Port Glasgow and was owned by W. Thompson & Co., of Liverpool. |
