Show DYING BOY WAS SENT TO WRONG MAN ROSS FORK, Ida., Feb. 17.-A pathetic case of mistaken identity has developed here within the last few days. Clarence Brainard, engineer at the Fort Hall chool, was notified some two weeks ago by the Board of Associated Charities in San Francisco that his son was in their institute seriously ill. and asking If he would furnish a ticket for him to his home. 1 Mr. Brainard. before accepting the position po-sition he now holds, was a mechanic in the railroad shops at Pocatello and the telegram was sent there. Owing to difficulty dif-ficulty in locating him. the telegram waa delayed some time, and before he could answer that he had no son. the charity association in San Francisco had forwarded for-warded the young man claiming such relationship re-lationship to Pocatello. On his arrival there he was taken charge of by the city authorities and later died before it could be explained to him that his father was not the Brainard of this place. Owing to friction between the county and city authorities au-thorities of Pocatello the body still lies in an undertaking establishment unburled. Mr. Brainard say that during his residence resi-dence in Pocatello he had a great deal of trouble In getting his mall mrxed up with another man of the same name, whom he did not know and who Is evidently the father of the boy in question. |
