Show END OF THE WEEK SLUMP ON MINING EXCHANGE As was predicted by The Telegram, the weekly slump In business on the mining-exchange has arrived. The total to-tal amount of business done during; Thursday morning- only amounted to a little over $1000 and only five stocks re-1 re-1 celved any attention. The slump Is the natural result of the activity of the earlier part of the week, and Is expected expect-ed to last till next Monday at least. Prices showed little change, being- If anything a trifle weaker than on Wednesday. Daly still keeps in the public eye and ; , did a large share of the day's business, $2.65 being the prevailing price. May Day was about the same, but did little trading, as there was evldent- t ly a very small demand for the stock at ( the prevailing figure of Shi cents. NEWHOUBE BETUTtNS TO START CACTUS VILL. Samuel Newhouse Iras returned from his trip to the East and will within the next few days go to the Cactus to offl-; offl-; clally start the big mill. Things are rapidly being put In shape for the start 1 and the machinery Is even now being tuned up for the first run. The electric tramway is being operated and the draft of the big stack is being tested. The preliminary experiments were so thorough that there can be no question of the efficiency of the plant, and within with-in the next two weeks the mill will be running through nearly 800 tons of crude ore a day. Quite a party will witness the starting start-ing of the plant, and a good deal of ceremony cer-emony will be observed. As soon as the Cactus is running smoothly it is the intention of Mr. Newhouse to give a good deal of his attention at-tention to the Majestic company's property, of which he is now general manager. L FINE ORE STRUCK IN THE ALTA-QUINCY. It is reported from Alta that fine ore running about $7$ per ton in copper, stiver sti-ver and gold values has been encountered encoun-tered in the Alta-Qulncy of Alta. When Superintendent Alex Colbath of -the Alta-Qulncy went to Goldfleld he left only two or three men at the mine, and these men have been prospecting several sev-eral fissures which the tunnel cut during dur-ing Its progress. Many of these fissures fis-sures carried nice values, but were not prospected at the time, as it was the purpose of the management to shove the tunnel In as fast as possible. It is thought that the fissure which has recently teen opened up Is the Kate Hayes vein, which has yielded much rich ore In the past.
