Fob. 9 -Senator Smoot was before the Public 1-ands committee of the Senate and explained his position In reference to tho creation of the new land district in I'tah. He said he had no particular par-ticular pride of authorship in his own bill, and if it had been introduced i.y any other Senator he would support it. At the cnnc'iisio:i of the hearlnir tre committee authorized the chairman to move the recommittal of tlie Kearns land district bill to the committee, and decided to have a hearing on both the Kearns and Stnoot bills at the next meeting of the committee. |
