Show V.F.W. SPONSOR EXHIBIT OF WAR SOUVENIRS ' a The Springville post of Veterans of Foreign Wars is sponsoring an interesting exhibit of articles from various foreign countries in the window of Anderson's Electric store window. Among the aricles attracting the attention of visitors, is the Sumarai sword used by the Japanese Japa-nese and handed down to the eldest eld-est son through' generations. The one on exhibit was brought from .Korea by Earl' Nielson and is nearly four feet in length with an attracive carved handle and case. A complete history of the sword and its part in Jap warfare is inscribed in-scribed beneath the handle. Mays Anderson also has in the exhibit a German winter cap obtained ob-tained while he was a prisoner in Warsaw, Poland. There are numerous num-erous other items including a Japanese Jap-anese kimona, various kinds of money, numerous guns;, knives, emblems from officers' uniforms, arm bands worn by the German Volkstrum or home army, and many other items from practically every country. The exhibit is being conducted in connection with a membership drive sponsored by the VFW with Mays Anderson, at Anderson Electric Elec-tric store, in charge of enrollment of new members. |
