Show DUTCH FARMS ARE FLOODED Every American is familiar with the dikes of Holland .which for many years have kept the waters or the sea from flooding the rich agricultural land of that country. In a desperate effort to halt the Allied advance, the Germans blasted blast-ed many of the dikes, with the result that one-fourth of Holland Hol-land has been covered by water and agricultural experts say that the land will be corrupted for years as a result. The Dutch government has made it clear that when officials are able to estimate the total damage and the numbers of farms which have been destroyed, it may seek territorial compensation from Germany by requesting areas of German territory to provide homes for thousands of farmers whose fields have been ruined. |
