Show Sponge Rubber Will Create More New Jobs Almost a century old, sponge rubber will come into Its own as basis of a $200,000,000-a-year retail re-tail business and countless Jobs after the war. Anticipating this trend just before be-fore the war, sponge rubber was already appearing in shock-absorbing seat cushions on buses and trains. Now six big firms are interested, with their eyes on markets mar-kets ranging from church kneeling kneel-ing benches to moisture-resisting packing materials for machine parts. The heart of their business ill be in mattresses and cushions for furniture, they expect to bring the cost of rubber mattresses down from the prewar price of ?60 to $45. Sponge rubber products are cool, form no dust, wont sag, are washable, and provide shock-insulation, the rubber companies say. Demand will come from hospitals, vehicles and private homes. |
