Show HALL OF FAME ' GAVE FINE -PROGRAM FRI. First Prize And 525 Bond Awarded To Alexander ' Crossman, Provo Vocalist A full evening's entertainment was provided by the Hall of Fame amateur contest presented last Friday in the high school gymnasium, gymnas-ium, before a large and enthusiastic enthusias-tic audience. Alexander Crossman of Provo, was the winner of first place honors hon-ors in the contest and received a $25 war bond. He rendered a vocal vo-cal solo with Mrs. Maurice Bird, accompanist. Other winners in the contest selected se-lected from a large group of fine performers, were Bernus Bills of Provo, who gave an accordian selection; the Romeny Sisters of Provo, who dressed in typical Spanish attire gave a vocal duet in Spanish; Don Gottfredson, who in easy manner rendered a lovely vocal solo; Norma Sumsion, who thrilled the crowd with a piano rendition; Janet Llewellyn and Catherine Holley of Mapleton, whose grace in a dance number won acclaim from the audience; Jean Smith, whose pesronality plus won her audience with a song; and little Anna Lee Bartholomew, Bar-tholomew, whose tap dance was a delightful feature of the program. Each of the eight winners was presented with warsavings stamps the total prizes being $50. Contestants entered the Hall of Fame program from all parts of the county and some very fine numbers were presented during the varied program. It gave all an opportunity to appear before the public, and the winners will be given an invitation to appear over radio station KOVO. The Hall of Fame plans to continue con-tinue these programs at regular periods, in an effort to bring before be-fore the public talent which otherwise oth-erwise may never be heard. |
