Show Final Grid Battle Set Here Friday, Nov. 29 . Red Devils To Tangle With B High Eleven . Final Football Game of Season To Get Underway At 2:30 P. M.; Seniors Don Suits For Last Time Coacli George Pelirson and his Springville Red Devils will write finis to tlieir 1918 grid campaign on the Devil's lield Friday afternoon wlien they meet the touted B.Y. High s wildcats, ine game win Degm at '2:30 p.m. and will wind up a successful suc-cessful season for the Red & Blue team. Classed as only a fair team at the beginning of the season, the Springville eleven has exhibited possibly the most team spirit, fight, and determination-to-win, of any team on the gridiron here for many years. The club has not been blessed with a "star-studded" hand-me-down of previous year's experience and therefore have had to gain all their glory on shear fight and good play which this year's club has done. The team will be out to further its laurels Friday in the final game and should the Devils win, they will be assured of second spot in the region. Only the winner, win-ner, however, gets a look in on the state semi-final battles and title game. Play Final Game . . . Donning suits for their final game for the Springville eleven will be Gordon Smith, Richard Carter and Gram Lloyd, back-field back-field men; Frank Hunt, Boyd Snow, Glen Sanford, ends; Don Robertson, Kay Bills, Keith Bear-dall, Bear-dall, Captain Jay Stewart and Vernon Weight, line men. These players have done a bang-up job this year and will see plenty of action against the Y high team Friday. Close Game Expected . . . Although the Y High team has had some tough luck in playing to date, they are expected to put up a stiff battle against the Red Devils and a fairly close game is expected. Home field advantage should give the Devils one touchdown touch-down over their rivals in the score column, however. Devils Tie Dons . . . In a game that was hard fought from the opening gun, the Devils inanageu lo Keep uie i-'uua num Spanish Fork from further maring their record by coming out of the fracas with a 6-6 tie, in their game at Spanish Fork last Friday. Spanish got the break of the game that set up their score in the opening quarter when Carter attempted a quick kick that went for ten yards to the Don's 45. After Springville held, the Dons kicked and recovered a muffed ball ' on the Red Devil 8 yard strip from where they were able to score their only 6 points 'of the game. The Dons outfought the Devils throughout most of the second quarter, but were pushed around in the final two quarters. Smith set . up the touchdown for Springville, with some brilliant runs to the Don's two yard line where Jones carried it over. The try for the extra point was wide and the game remained all tied up 6-6 as the gun sounded. In the other important region game, Lincoln dumped Payson 26-0 to remain undefeated and sew. up the Region Three title. |
