Show Many Students Enjoy Hot Lunch At School Well Balanced Meals Served More Than 700 Students Daily At Cost of 15c Each; Eleven Women Employed In Food Preparation Approximately 725 boys and girls are taking advantage of the well balanced hot lunches being served at the high school and three elementary grade schools, according to a report this week. The meals are's all prepared at the high school kitchen and those for the Lincoln, Grant and Jefferson schools' are transported from the high school each noon. According to Mrs. Jean Paxman, Springville hot lunch supervisor, the cost of the meals must be kept under 21c each. Each meal costs the student just 15c and the difference is made up by funds from the government. The menus for each day are worked out by the district supervisor super-visor and sent to each of the city supervisors so that the same meals are served in each school on the same days. Produce is purchased at whole-ale whole-ale prices and other items used in the meal preparation are purchased pur-chased through bids in large quantities quan-tities in order to give the student we uesi possiDie iooa at me smallest small-est cost. There are ten women employed in the preparation of the meals for Springville in addition to Mrs. Paxman. Two women go to each school at noon to assist with the serving of the meals and others of the group serve at the high school. To give parents and other citizens citi-zens an idea of the kind of meals served students, Mrs. Paxman outlined out-lined two menus which have been served recently and which are typical typ-ical of the balanced diets enjoyed oy boys and girls.
