Show Celebrate July 4th In Springville V jBig Program Of Events Outlined Including 3-Day Rodeo Shows V Motorized Scooter Race And Other Entertainment Set Hundreds of Dollars In Cash Prizes To Be Given For Various Competitive Events Under Direction of Jr. Chamber of Commerce Springville s Fourth of July celebration plans are complete com-plete and everything is in readiness for a big day's program, I according to JaJycee committee chairmen and members of $civic clubs who have worked dili gently to assure everyone a grantl time. One of the major events expected expect-ed to attract hundreds of spectators specta-tors is the motorized scooter races. It will be the first ime such a contest has been held in Springville Spring-ville and considerable excitement is anticipated. The scooter races will be run over a 25-mile track extending along Main street from Fourth South to First North and return until the full distance is run. The races are expected to get underway under-way at 12:30 p. m., and will continue con-tinue until about 3 o'clock. Nearly Near-ly $200 in prize money will be presented pre-sented the winners of the various runs, which will be entered into by a large number of competent riders. Other events which all children of the city will be interested are the Doll Show and the Model Show to be held at the City park in the forenoon. Children who expect to enter their dolls in the exhibit, must have them at the park by 10 a. m. The dolls will be judged at about 11 o'clock and ribbons and cash prizes will be awarded to all winning entries. There will be a first, second and third prizes for the prettiest doll, for the largest larg-est doll, the smallest doll and the oldest doll. Also for the cutest baby doll and for the best animal doll and the best foreign doll. .Every girl in town who has a doll is invited to bring her to the show. She may win a prize. At the same time the Doll Show is going on there will be a Model Show featuring exhibits of all kinds of airplanes, miniature covered cov-ered wagons, boats and other articles ar-ticles which have been made by the boys of the community. The entries will be placed in various divisions and each division will be judged and the winners given prizes. The Scouts have taken over the responsibility of the Model Show and it will be one of the interesting features of the day. Also scheduled for the forenoon entertainment for the hundreds of children who are expected to assemble as-semble at the City Park are the egg races, the sack races and regular reg-ular foot races. These will be conducted con-ducted for boys and girls in various vari-ous age groups and prizes will be given the winners in each group. The greased pole climbing stunt is to bo held during the forenoon and boys of the town who expect to enter this event are advised to como in their old clothes. There will also be a chicken race for children and this too, will furnish much merriment. Of special intercut to the boys are the bicycle races scheduled for the several age groups, with prizes offered to all winners. Any boy who has a bicycle or whom can borrow one for the races, is invited to participate. Most of the festivities scheduled for the children will take place in the City Park. They are advised to be there early and stay until tho last race is run. A ball game between Heber and Springvillo will be played in the afternoon and the crowds will then assemble at the Spring Acres Race Track for the rodeo performance. I |
