Show Safety Week On Farms Begins July 24 to 30 Active participation of every rural family of Utah in the national farm safety week July 24-30 was urged today by S. R. Boswell, Utah County Agent. Elimination of at least one unsafe un-safe practice or condition by each member of every farm family is the major objective of the national farm safety week campaign. One particular phase of farm safety will be emphasized each day of the week, as follows: Sunday, July 24: The churches: Sermons, Sunday school talks, playlets and discussions all can be featured in connection with Farm Safety Week. Monday, July 25: Home safety: More farm people are injured in accidents in the home than anywhere any-where else on the farm. Monday's program should emhasize .the elimination of unsafe practices in the home, i Tuesday, July 26: Livestock: Animals account for one out of four farm work accidents. On Tuesday the safe methods of handling han-dling livestock can be given most attention. Wednesday, July 27: Falls: In the home and around the farmstead farm-stead falls lead the list of mishaps. Good housekeeping arounds the farm is the theme for this day. Thursday, July 28: Highway traffic: Highlight rules of safe driving and walking on highways to help reduce the toll of 7,300 rural residents killed in traffic mishaps. Friday, July 29 : Machinery : Friday Fri-day might well be the occasion for spreading the facts necessary for the safe operation of farm machinery. mach-inery. Saturday, July 30: Review Day: Review all phases of accident prevention pre-vention as a means of encouraging encourag-ing safe practices on the farm fifty-two weeks a year. |
