Harold Christensen and are this week being put on display at the City Drug and the Springville Herald for public approval before being presented to the Nebo school board for acceptance and blueprinting. blue-printing. Everyone interested in school or civic improvement is urged to call in and look them over and express his opinion to the board member. Mr. Christensen, with the cooperation co-operation of architect Claude Ash-worth Ash-worth of Provo and Paul K. Walker, Walk-er, of the high school, have spent considerable time and thought in the remodeling of the crowded auditorium and feel that the plans submitted, if approved by townspeople, towns-people, will aid materially in the education as well as the architectural architec-tural value of the school. It is planned to completey re-do the auditorium by moving the south wall and changing the hall and rooms back of the present stage location. Lockers in the hall would be moved to the basement area formerly used as a swimming pool, where a slight remodeling job would make it into a nice locker room. Also the large room which has lockers in directly west of the auditorium would be remade re-made into a convenient faculty room being just south of the principal's prin-cipal's office. Windows in the auditorium would be closed on the north side and redesigned on the east side, providing for much needed improvement im-provement in acoustics. The room would also be remodeled to use as a visual aid room, a vital necessity neces-sity which the Springville high school lacks at present. Under the proposed plan, the auditorium, which would have its floor slanted for "better - vision, would seat 608. It would be 65 feet by 54 feet 8 inches. The stage would be enlarged to 28 feet 6 inches by 54 feet 8 inches and would have storage and make-up rooms on the south end. It was pointed out that the extra seating capactiy would enlarge the room considerably and provide adequate seating for high school students. Estimated costs for remodeling, which includes lowering the stage and sloping the auditorium floor, is $3576.00 These proposed improvements to the high school building are much needed and will be made by the board if accepted by the board and townspeople, according to board member Christensen. The remodeling remod-eling job would likely be done next summer, it was pointed out. |
