Show A. L Thorpe Heads Black Hawk Organization Here Elected captain of the Spring-ville-Mapleton Black Hawk Indian In-dian War Veterans and Pioneers was A. L. Thorpe, who succeeds A. O. Thorn, Caiptain for the past 12 years, who asked to be released. re-leased. Mr. Thorpe served as first vice-captain to Mr. Thorn during his term. Mrs. Mary Weight acted act-ed as second vice-captain and Mr. and Mrs. A. Y. Wheeler acted as secretary and treasurer. Mr., and Mrs. Wheeler were retained in their respective positions under Mr. Thorpe. New vice-captains will be selected sel-ected in the near future and will probably be appointed from the younger members of the organization organi-zation to stimulate the activities of the younger generations to assist as-sist in honoring the forefathers of Springville. In leaving the position as captain cap-tain of the group, Mr. Thorn has done a splendid job. He and his committee were in charge of arrangements ar-rangements of the Black Hawk entertainment and encampment held in springville in 194b ana have kept interest in the Black Hawk activities high throughout the city since that time. Through his efforts and leadership the Black Hawk group has been well represented in all encampments and furnished outstanding entertainment. enter-tainment.
