Show UTAH TIES FOR SIXTH PLACE IN GOP SHIFT Utah was tied for sixth place in percentage of shift from the Democratic to the Republican party par-ty in the 1946 elections, a compilation com-pilation of returns from all the 48 states shows. Three of the states which showed show-ed a stronger party switch in the 1946 vote as compared with the 1944 returns than Utah were already al-ready Republican and merely became be-came more so. The greatest percentage change was in Oregon, where the Republicans Repub-licans polled 17.9 more of the total vote than they did in 1944. Next was North Dakota with a 17.7 point change. Washington was third with 16.1 points; New Hampshire fourth with 14.1 points change; Nevada fifth with 1 13.4 change, and Utah and Wisconsin Wis-consin tied for sixth with 12 points change. |
