Hause of Kansas City, member of the board of trustees of the proposed hospital above mentioned, men-tioned, ashed Doctor Binns what the difference was between be-tween receiving federal money for tuition of college students and receiving it for a hospital. The latter replied that the tuition money is paid for services rendered while the hospi-tal hospi-tal money is not, and tuition money may not involve government govern-ment control of the college. Doctor Hause in reply contended that if a hospital receives re-ceives federal aid and renders free medical services it, too, accepts money for services rendered. Dr. Binns, however, held that there were certain conditions imposed if federal funds were accepted. In his argument Doctor Binns made the following point: "In the near future the United States Supreme Court will decide the legality of transporting children to various religious schools at stale cost. The question has come up in New Jersey. I think using state funds for this purpose is wrong. ' Delegates applauded him at this. ' He continued, Then, if you oppose using state funds in this manner, you must keep your hands off government money for Baptist hospitals. If we accept a single gift from the government, we cannot protest the situation in New Jersey." WASHINGTON (D. C.) He stated that he was oppesed to it primarily for two reasons: one, that such acceptance violates the principle of the separation of State and Church, and the other, that acceptance of government gov-ernment money means government control in one form or another.
