Show VETERANS MUST COOPERATE FOR PENSION PURPOSES Utah veterans in many cases are failing to cooperate with the Veterans Vet-erans Administration in the matter mat-ter of keeping appointments for physical examinations for pension purposes, according to E. A. Lit-tlefield, Lit-tlefield, manager of the Utah regional reg-ional office in Salt Lake City. The law provides that physical examinations must be given periodically peri-odically to' most men drawing pensions. pen-sions. The Utah .regional office already has a backlog of more than 1,000 cases in this category, which are being .processed as rapidly rap-idly as possible. Veterans receive report notices well in advance, and the VA pays their expenses for the trip, so there would seem little lit-tle reason for failure to report. Mr. Littlefield points out, however, how-ever, that changes in examination times will be cheerfully made by the VA providing veterans have good reasons for the change and providing they notify the VA in plenty of time for another veteran to be assigned the vacant place. According to Littlefield, veterans veter-ans should take these appointments appoint-ments seriously, because they are subject to suspension of pension payments for repeated failure to report. The VA now considers this situation so serious in Utah that fifty pensions have been ordered suspended. Disabled veterans are urged to cooperate with th VA in the future. |
