Show STATE HEALTH REPORT GIVEN Physicians and state health officers of-ficers reported a total of 83 resident resi-dent cases of communicable diseases dis-eases to the State Department of Health for the 'week ending October Oc-tober 17. Last week 102 cases were reported and 146 cases for the corresponding week last year. Again some diphtheria cases were reported one case from Duchesne Du-chesne county and one fronx Uintah Uin-tah county. These two cases occurred oc-curred among Indians, both fe- males, one 11 and the other 26 years of age. These cases ' bring the total for the state this year to 30 cases with six fatalities, while for the same period of time last year there were only nine cases with one death. - We have had more diphtheria cases so far this year than for any full year since 1941, when there were 35 cases and one death. It is evident that diphtheria cases are increasing in the state, although al-though rather slowly. This increase in-crease is better pointed gut by the comparison of the number of cases so far this year (30) with the 16 cases, which is the yearly average aver-age for the preceding "five years, 1941 to 1945. This increase is definite indication for more widespread wide-spread diphtheria immunizations. See your family physician as he is the person best qualified to advise ad-vise you concerning diphtheria immunization for your children. |
