Show SPRINGVILLE MAN INJURED IN PLANE CRACK-UP A Pleasant Grove pilot and his passenger were injured Monday at 3 p. m. when their small two-seated two-seated airplane crashed into the side of a mountain in Maple canyon1, can-yon1, six miles southeast of here. Injured were Harvey D. Hip. pach, 28, Pleasant Grove, pilot of the plane, and Hoyt Baxter, 25, Springville, a passenger. After receiving treatment for their injuries they were released re-leased to their homes. Both Mr. Hippach and Mr. Baxter Bax-ter walked from the scene of the crash to a road where they caught a ride with a party of hunters. After reporting the crash to Spanish Span-ish Fork airport officials, they were sent to the Springville physician physi-cian for treatment. Although airport officials said they did not know exactly what happened, they surmised that Mr. Hippach flew into the canyon, a box-shaped ravine, and got so low he could not fly the plane out. Leland Carter and R. E. Hope, R F D No. 2, Provo, hunting in the area, saw the crash. They said the plane seemed to slip sideways and crashed into the side of the mountain. moun-tain. They rushed to Utah county sheriff's office to report the crash, but by that time the two injured men had reached Spanish Fork airport, Sheriff Theron S. Hall said. |
