Show Conference Attracts Crowds At Meets Saturday And Sunday One of the largest conferences in the history of Kolob stake convened Saturday evening and Sunday, in the Fourth ward chapel, under direction of President Ernest ' : A. Strong. Visiting church authorities included in-cluded Elder Mark Garff of the general welfare committee and Apostle Mark E. Peterson of the Council of Twelve. Both gave fine spiritual talks in the various sessions. ses-sions. Elder Garff talked on the church welfare program and how it functioned at home and abroad, while the principal message delivered de-livered by Apostle Peterson was j in connection with his talk on the signs of the times and fulfillment I of prophecy. Highlighting the conference ses-; ses-; sions was the Mothers and Daugh- ters meeting at 9 a.m., Sunday by the Youth Leadership, which was attended by a record crowd of 438 women. Elder Lee Palmer, chairman of the church welfare program, addressed the group and gave a fine talk on the story of the book of life. This meeting was also featured by a short talk by Nancy Salisbury; a vocal solo by Bonnie Beardall, accompanied by Pauline Boyer and music by a girls' chorus comprised of 50 voices, directed by Mrs. Alberta Hoover, with Mrs. Bess Menden-hall, Menden-hall, accompanist. The prayers at the meeting were offered by Carol Francis and Elaine Ashcraft. Mrs. A. G. The Girls chorus also furnished music for the Sunday forenoon general session at which the visiting visit-ing authorities, President Strong, also Miss Lucille Crandall, who recently returned from a mission, gave talks. Elder Palmer gave an interesting report on the Leadership Leader-ship meeting. In the afternoon, short talks were made by members of the stake presidency including A. G. Peterson and Glen W. Sumsion' as well as by Apostle Peterson. The Singing Mothers of the stake, directed di-rected by Mrs. Willis Weight, furnished fur-nished music. The conference which opened with a priesthood meeting, was reported one of the most interesting interest-ing as well as one of the best attended in the stake. , |
