Welch, left Sunday for Camp Kearns, where he is stationed with the air corps. He enlisted as a reserve last November and has been attending at-tending the University of Utah. Kenneth Boyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Boyer, returned Tuesday Tues-day from San Francisco, Calif., where he enlisted as an aviation cadet in the naval reserve. He will graduate from high school this spring. Howard McKenzie, son of Mr. and Mrs. Owen McKenzie, visited Friday night and Saturday with .includes instrument flying, forma-, tion, and cross country. It's an everyday occurance to fly to Texas Tex-as .Oklahoma or Arizona on a training flight. We get our training train-ing in twin-engined planes which are the last step before flying various multi-engined combat and transport ships. Burnis Watts, son of Mrs. Lutie W Watts, has graduated from the Victorville army flying ool " a glider pilot and advanced to the rank of flight officer, according to word received from the training station. He graduated from the Spring-ville Spring-ville high school in 1939, and later attended the U. S. A. C. at Logan. He entered the army air force in July, 1925, and took his preliminary prelimi-nary training at Big Springs, Texas, Tex-as, and at Twenty-Nine Palms, California. LeJeune Whitney of this city, who recently enlisted with the WAACS, has been, transferred to Ruston, La., and is at Headquarters Headquar-ters offices for the entire training companies in Louisiana and Arkansas. An interesting letter came this week to the Herald from Harold Armed Forces The following letter was received re-ceived from a home town man in the armed forces and tells how much the town paper is appreciated appreciat-ed by the boys: Roswell Army Flying School, Roswell, New Mexico. I was very happy to receive the Springville Herald last Monday. It was really great to read about the home town, its people and goings-on. goings-on. Believe you me, I read every square inch of it and enjoyed it all. I want to thank the Jaycees for such a nice gift and you can rest assured it well appreciated. I'm here at the Roswell Flying School taking my advanced pilot training, at the completion of which I'll get my wings ,but nothing noth-ing is sure as yet.
