Show WAR EFFORT IS ( AIDED BY LOCAL JR. C. C. Scrap, Victory Garden, Athletic Equipment Drives Are Being Conducted By Members Outlying districts were combed by several members of the Junior Chamber of Commerce Sunday for scrap , metal with much success, when a total of 6,600 pounds of the vitally needed war material was gathered and transferred to channels where it will eventually find its way to steel plants to be converted into weapons of war. The Jaycees have located many more tons of scrap and plan to pick it up at convenient times. Along with the scrap campaign the Jaycees are making a drive for athletic equipment to be turned over to the boys in the armed forces. Ray Klauck, chairman of the drive, stated Tuesday the Boy Scouts in all the wards of Spring-ville Spring-ville .had been enlisted in the drive, and the latter will begin their canvass can-vass this week. The drive is going over big in the state, and the local organization is very desirous of having the Springville organization organiza-tion at the top in results obtained in this vicinity. If you have any used athletic equipment, Mr. Klauck urges that you contact him, 'the Boy Scouts, or bring it yourself to the Koepsel & Love store on Main street. Every contribution con-tribution will be greatly appreciated appreciat-ed by the Jaycees and especially by the boys in service. Howard Maycock and Taylor Burt, in charge of the 1943 city beautification campaign for the Jaycees, have announced that next week's issue of the Herald will be sponsored by the local organization organiza-tion as an initial step in launching this year's drive. Two prizes are being offered, one for home improvement im-provement and one for the best victory garden, and will consist of $5 each in war stamps. The committee com-mittee urges the citizens to rnake their plans now in these benefici-ent benefici-ent projects. |
