Show New Jaycee Officers To Be Installed At Banquet Tonight George Larson, American Legion Commander, Slated For Main Address Of Evening; Grant Thorn Service Award To Be Presented Kay Johnson, well known young business man of Springville, will officially take over the president's reins of the Springville Junior Chamber nf flnm. merce this, Thursday, evening at the annual installation banquet of the organization to be held in Memorial Me-morial Hall. Mr. Johnson will be installed by President Ray L. Richards Rich-ards of the Utah State Junior Chamber of Commerce, who will also introduce the other new officers offi-cers as follows for the 1943-44 fiscal fis-cal year: Dr. R. C. Petty, first vice-president; Verl Whiting, second sec-ond vicepresident; Lee Miner, secretary; sec-retary; Ernest Boyer, treasurer; Ray Klauck, Carl Alleman and Howard Maycock, two-year directors; direc-tors; Reed Averett, Francis Hazel and Glen Tipton, one-year directors. direc-tors. Arrangements for the banquet have been completed under the direction of Glenn Hansen and Ernest Er-nest Boyer, co-chairmen, assisted by the following committees: Program, Pro-gram, Ray Klauck and Clifford Beardall; tickets, Frank Morgan and Taylor Burt; banquet, Karl Alleman and Alton Packard; victory vic-tory corsages, Kay Johnson, Kimball Kim-ball Larsen and Wallace Patrick. Mr. Hansen has announced that beautiful war saving stamp corsages cor-sages have been completed by the committee to be sold at the door preceding the banquet. They contain con-tain ten 10c stamps and will be sold for one dollar, with each gentleman gen-tleman expected to buy one for his partner. The program will get under way at 8 p. m., with community singing sing-ing led by Mrs. Ernest Boyer, followed fol-lowed with invocation by Howard Maycock. Ernest Boyer will give the address of welcome, introducing introduc-ing the guests and the toastmaster of the evening, Dr. R. C. Petty. Grant S. Thorn, who has through his exceptional leadership during the past year as president put the Springville Junior Chamber of Commerce on an enviable plane among Utah organizations, will give a short resume of his administration, admin-istration, and will present his service ser-vice award to an outstanding local Jaycee for his work during 1942-43 1942-43 in the advancement of the Springville club. Mr. Thorn plans to make the award an annual presentation. pres-entation. A special token of esteem es-teem will also be presented to Mrs. Thorn in appreciation of her help in many club activities. George E. Larson of Spanish Fork, state commander of the American Legion, will be the principal prin-cipal speaker of the evening. Mr. Larson has traveled extensively in his official capacity and through his many contacts with organizations organiza-tions and their efforts in furtherance further-ance of ultimate victory in the great struggle which engulfs the entire world, he will have a very interesting message for those attending. at-tending.
