Show FARM RELIEF VITALLY NECESSARY There has been much wailing in metropolitan areas over the action ac-tion of congTess in providing increased in-creased income for agriculture through the mechanism of larger loans on major crops. The house vote was 276 to 63, and the senate majority an overwhelming over-whelming 75 to 2. The intent of farm legislation is to establish parity prices which are those necessary to give the producers the same purchasing power in terms of other commodities commodi-ties that they had from 1909 to 1914. The reader should bear in mind that the agricultural portion of our population, in the years between be-tween 1909 and 1914, did not enjoy en-joy an income equal to that enjoyed en-joyed by other economic groups. Moreover, the plight of agriculture is largely due to national policies that have destroyed the export market of the producer. |
